See our latest news release….

Despite the challenges of the last two years, a local, family run firm has finally opened its new £2.8million purpose-built self storage facility at Weston Gateway Business Park.

100 year old removals and self storage company, Yeates, started building a new bespoke, four floor facility in January 2021 and the firm happily welcomed its first customers this week. The new premises serves both domestic and business customers and offers more than 300 self storage units for short and long-term rental. The facility has been built to high environmental standards, has 24 hour access 365 days a year, the latest security systems, a business lounge and plenty of customer parking.

James Griffin, Managing Director and fourth-generation business owner said: “We are delighted to be open at last and welcoming customers to our brand-new self storage facility. We have been planning this expansion for a number of years, and despite slight setbacks presented by the pandemic, we have finally opened.

Adding a second premises to our well-established removals and storage operation is another exciting chapter in our 100-year history. The new site will continue to improve our logistics capability and allow us to extend our portfolio into Weston – supporting business and private users with a first-class self storage service.”

The main contractor for the build was another local firm, Corkish Construction, who worked tirelessly to overcome issues and bring the project to completion.

James added: ‘We are so grateful to Martin Corkish and his team. In the end this wasn’t an easy project, but they remained committed and went beyond the brief to help get the job finished.”

The expansion was also made possible thanks to a £1.6million development loan through Lloyds Bank’s Clean Growth Finance Initiative, which provides funding to help businesses transition to a lower carbon, more sustainable future.

As part of this commitment to reduce carbon emissions, the new premises has been developed in line with the world’s leading sustainability framework, BREEAM, which means the building is equipped with solar energy panels, electric heating and cooling system and the latest energy efficient glass and lighting.

James added: “After so many set-backs we are finally open and trading, so whether you are an individual or a business looking for more space, just pop in – we will be delighted to show you around!”

Yeates’ original Clevedon site remains open and will continue to operate as usual.
